Austria was recently hailed as one of the world's best destinations for sustainable tourism in the World Economic Forum’s Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report. And the Austrian Institute for Sustainability hails us as the pioneers of Europe with an “aristocratic” green sensibility. Aside from the work of farmers, hunters and forest men, 70 per cent of power comes from alternative energy and 60 per cent of all waste is recycled.
Our hotel owners have for many years invested thought and resources so they can offer guests comfort and wellbeing in an environment which works for people as well as the planet. And plans keep on coming, in the use of materials, water and energy, waste disposal, transport, landscaping chemicals, lighting and cleaning.
When it comes to food, local and organic products are favoured. Regional farmers and workers who live nearby help to cut the carbon footprint of our cuisine.
